Sociable Projects
Sociable is a relatively new enterprise, but our principals have been working together for many years on a wide variety of online projects. We present a selection of them here for your edification and entertainment.
Damian Hills - Street Survivor
Shockwave 3D Project for BighART
watch trailer (7MB Quicktime movie file)
Viveka Weiley - Biennale of Sydney 2000
Web site with flash interpretation of logo, for Brainwaave Interactive.

While we gather screenshots, here is a quick rundown of a few exemplar projects completed by our principals.
Recent usability projects:
Qantas Holidays and HSBC
Viveka: Brave New World Communications contracted me as a usability specialist for their redesign of Qantas Holidays. The first thing I discovered was that users couldn’t cope with choosing a destination by the airport’s name; most people don’t know the name of the capital city of Noumea, or that the main airport in Tokyo is called Narita. So the dropdown menu you see on the site now is the result of my work with their users, to figure out how they actually think about the world.
We made a lot of other usability changes as well, with the result that their conversion rates more than doubled.
Much the same for HSBC - I was the usability specialist on that site as well, and helped them avoid a swathe of usability abominations (I led formal user testing, with a one-way mirror and so on).
For the rest - unless otherwise stated, Viveka did the usability and design, Damian did multimedia programming, James did video and database work.
Some sites from this year:
Frankel Lawyers
An intellectual property and entertainment law firm.
ACM SIGGRAPH
An ongoing site run from a large CMS with stringent publishing and workflow control requirements.
Anatomate
Medical multimedia - we produce CD-ROM and DVD-ROM multimedia products for them as well.
Some older examples, to demonstrate the range of design approaches:
Canon (usability and information architecture, for Brainwaave Interactive)
Audi (link to archive) (design and interactivity, for Brainwaave Interactive)
And some interactive pieces for done at Brainwaave for Intel; not online but here are some screenshots:
Virtual Human | History of Space Travel

Other projects our principals had a hand in at Brainwaave and elsewhere include Australians at War, Sydney Olympic gamesinfo and environmental multimedia kiosks… we’ve redesigned an ATM, the interface for Telstra’s deployment of the Alcatel Webtouch consumer internet appliance, mobile and broadband applications and many other projects, starting with the birth of the Web in 1994, and through to its current rebirth as the medium matures.
